The best way to protect your smile is by preventing problems before they start. Most of the conditions that negatively affect your smile can be avoided with regular care. The Craig Anderson, DDS team is committed to answering your questions about proper hygiene and providing you with exceptional preventative dentistry.

Fifty percent of all adults have some form of periodontal disease, often without realizing it. Periodontal disease is chiefly responsible for adult tooth loss, bleeding gums, bad breath, and receding gums. If diagnosed in its early stages, periodontal disease treatments are easier, less invasive and more effective. Your visit at Craig Anderson, DDS includes a complete evaluation of your gums and supportive tissues. You will have access to the highest quality periodontal therapy to heal and restore your oral health.

Damage to the nerve tissue inside a tooth sometimes requires a root canal procedure. The procedure involves removing the soft tissue within the tooth when it has become infected and inflamed. Dr. Anderson will gently remove the infected tissue and fill the void with an inert material. The procedure is completed with the placement of a crown.

In some cases, injury or decay damages a tooth extensively and an extraction is the proper treatment option to start you on the path toward complete dental health. Dr. Anderson can remove your troublesome tooth and give you the treatment options for replacing that tooth and completing your smile again.

Are you embarrassed about your smile because of decayed, disfigured or discolored teeth? You may be a good candidate for composite resins, also known as tooth-colored fillings or restorations. When the decay has been taken out of a tooth, it is replaced with filling material. In the past, amalgam (silver) fillings were placed into the cleaned out portion of the tooth. With new advancements in dentistry, you can now have tooth-colored fillings instead of silver fillings resulting in a long lasting, brighter, whiter smile. The composite is bonded to the tooth for a stronger restoration. Together you and Dr. Anderson can decide which option is best for you.

A nightguard is a simple solution that protects your teeth from the harmful effects of nighttime grinding. Dr. Anderson provides a custom molded mouth guard to comfortably fit over your upper teeth creating a barrier between your upper and lower teeth. The cushion between the teeth absorbs the force of grinding. A nightguard reduces discomfort associated with clenching and grinding and reduces TMJ problems by helping relax the muscles of the jaw. Finally, rest comfortably again!

Years of wear and tear, injury, or dental neglect can have a negative effect on the look and function of your teeth. The Craig Anderson, DDS team change lives every day through restorative dentistry. Rejuvenate your smile today!

Are you missing teeth? Have you postponed getting a bridge or denture? Do you wear ill-fitting or loose dentures? Dr. Anderson wants to improve your quality of life with dental implants.

As the prosthetic that most closely mimics nature's design, dental implants serve as substitute tooth roots. Each implant is strategically placed in the jaw, where bone integrates with it to create a solid foundation for a crown, bridge, or denture. With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime.

Benefits of Dental Implants:

  • Promote bone retention
  • Eliminate slipping, loose, wobbly dentures
  • Can last a lifetime
  • Look, feel and function like natural teeth

While typical dentures shift and may require the use of denture adhesives to keep them in place, implants fit solidly, reducing the problems associated with traditional dentures such as gum sores and difficulty chewing. Implant supported dentures distribute your biting pressure more like natural teeth than traditional dentures, stimulating the supportive structures and preventing the bone and soft tissues from shrinking away. You can replace an entire set of teeth with beautiful, natural-looking implants.

A proper fitting denture is very important. A good fit ensures that your dentures will allow you to regain much of your function, which is important for maintaining natural muscle tone in your face and jaw. Dentures will keep you looking and feeling healthy, and will help you retain a natural lifestyle. A natural smile and the best possible fit - those are two of the primary goals that the Craig Anderson, DDS team will achieve if you need dentures to restore your smile.

Partial dentures are used if you have several teeth missing that cannot be corrected with a bridge. A removable partial denture is created to replace those teeth. The removable partial denture is designed to fit comfortably and blend with any remaining teeth. It mimics your gum tissue and teeth to create a natural looking smile while restoring function. A metal free removable partial may be a good option for replacing missing teeth. Ask Dr. Anderson which type of removable partial is best for you.

Your teeth undergo a tremendous amount of wear and tear during your lifetime. Teeth may show this wear in a variety of ways, including discoloration, chipping and cracking. Crowns restore your teeth and your smile to look brilliant once again. Porcelain crowns can be made out of porcelain pressed to metal or are porcelain throughout and can be shaded to match your other teeth. Crowns made of precious metal are also an option. After some tooth preparation, crowns are specially fitted to give you back the look and functionality of your smile. If you have pain when chewing or temperature sensitivity, ask Dr. Anderson if crowns are for you.

If you've lost a tooth, a large gap in your smile can create significant problems for your dental health if left uncorrected. Gradually, your bite pressure may shift to other parts of your mouth to compensate for an inability to chew efficiently in the area of the missing tooth. Adjacent teeth may begin to move into the gap resulting in discomfort, pain and more problems in the future. After some preparation of the two adjacent teeth, crowns are created for them. A prosthetic tooth, or pontic, is fused between the crowns. Fixed bridges literally "bridge the gap" in your smile. Craig Anderson, DDS creates a functional, natural looking bridge to correct your smile, restore your bite and alleviate your discomfort.

Sometimes removing tooth decay effectively requires the removal of a portion of your tooth. The removed portion is replaced with a porcelain inlay or onlay. Dr. Anderson customizes an inlay or onlay to fill the space left behind when the part of your tooth is removed. Traditionally, inlays and onlays were made out of metal, much like traditional filings. Now, porcelain-milled inlays and onlays are virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth and provide relief from chewing pain, cavity pain and tooth degeneration.

Most people who are unhappy with the appearance of their teeth do not realize the numerous ways cosmetic care can improve a smile. Cosmetic dentistry can correct crooked teeth, spaces between your teeth, chipped teeth, broken or missing teeth, stained or discolored teeth. Craig Anderson, DDS creates a customized treatment plan for you, based on your age, goals and your comfort level financially.

Imagine a white, straighter, more brilliant smile! Placement of porcelain veneers is a conservative cosmetic treatment that makes a dramatic difference in the appearance of your teeth. If you have crooked teeth, chipped teeth, gaps in teeth or dull or stained teeth, veneers may be the perfect solution. Dr. Anderson will skillfully create a straight, brilliant smile that enhances your appearance and your self-esteem.

Opalescence™ - At Home Tooth Whitening

You may be quite happy with the size and alignment of your teeth, but dentist-supervised tooth whitening gives you the dazzling smile you always wanted. Tooth whitening is safe, effective and long lasting. Dr. Anderson trusts the Opalescence™ tooth whitening system.

Your Opalescence™ home whitening kit involves a special tray that is customized to fit over your teeth and powerful, prescription-strength whitening gel, which is inserted into the tray before you wear it. Dr. Anderson gives you detailed instructions about how long you should wear the tray each day, and the gel won't migrate to your gums. You should expect the entire home whitening process to take between two and four weeks, leaving you with a dazzling smile.

You can erase years of wear and tear with porcelain crowns. Craig Anderson, DDS uses a tooth-like crown made of porcelain to restore your tooth after the decay has been removed. Crowns are also used to restore chipped teeth, broken teeth, gaps in teeth and other damage. Porcelain bridges can be placed to replace a missing tooth. The bridge is anchored to existing teeth or crowns on either side of the missing teeth. Ask Dr. Anderson if a crown or bridge is right for you.

With new advancements in dentistry, you can now have tooth-colored fillings instead of silver fillings resulting in a long lasting, brighter, whiter smile. The new tooth-colored material is bonded to the tooth for a stronger restoration.

Composite bonding is a tooth-colored material applied and adhered to the surface of the tooth, often without reducing the structure of the tooth. The bonding material is sculpted by Dr. Anderson so that it resembles a natural tooth, correcting chips, broken, stained or discolored teeth and in some cases correcting gaps. While it is less of an investment than porcelain veneers, bonding doesn't last as long and can sometimes become stained from foods and beverages. We encourage you to make to make an appointment to talk with our team about your options.

Your enjoyable dental experience depends on your comfort. Craig Anderson, DDS utilizes advances in dental equipment and techniques to ensure your satisfaction with both your visit and continued dental health.
